Richard completed his BSc (Hons) Computer Science in 1997, and started his working career at the Sasol Synfuels facility in Secunda, focusing on plant optimisation and management information systems.

He completed his MBA part-time through the University of Pretoria in 2002.

The following year Richard joined McKinsey & Co as an associate and was exposed to the broader business environment while based in
South Africa, Nigeria, India, Singapore and Australia.

Richard joined Halls Investments in September 2008, as is
currently responsible for the Pharmaceutical portfolio, as well as
supporting due diligence of new investment opportunities.
